IMG_2002I have always had a passion for fitness and living an active lifestyle. Growing up in Sandusky, Ohio, I was always involved in some type of sporting event or outdoor activity in high school as well as college. After graduating from Bowling Green State University (BGSU) in 2007, I packed my life up and moved down to Southwest Florida. In an effort to meet people in my new found home, I stumbled upon CrossFit which seemed like the perfect match for my competitive nature and athleticism. Ever since I took my first class in 2011, I became hooked.

After training for a few years, I decided I wanted to expand my knowledge of CrossFit and become a coach and help train people to achieve their fitness goals. I drove 13 hours to Cookeville, Tennessee to obtain my CrossFit Level 1 Certification (CF-L1) and soon after became a coach at my local box. I quickly found joy and a sense of gratification in coaching. At this point, I realized this is what I wanted to do with my life. Now, I am truly excited to open my own affiliate and be able to give back to people and my community what CrossFit has given me. My dream has now come true.

I have been in love with fitness since I joined the Army in 2002. Growing up in Fort Myers, Florida I was always active and outside playing around. I got into fitness after my first deployment where I acted as the Physical Training Noncommisioned Officer in Charge (PTNCOIC), upon returning home I began to research how to become a personal trainer. Not too long after I earned my first fitness credential, the National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer, and began the road that would lead me to CrossFit. I was always interested in High Intensity Training, and I was the only Personal Trainer on staff that was not on the Powerlifting Team for that reason. Finally, I found my way to CrossFit during my Afghanistan deployment, when some of my Soldiers asked me to join them doing a “WOD”, 20 minutes later I was outside the Fitness
Tent puking my brains out… and I was sold!

I soon decided I needed to learn more so I attended my Level 1 Trainer course in CrossFit in West Palm Beach, Fl at CrossFit BGI, and the rest is history. Now, I hold nearly 20 fitness certifications, have been a Head Personal Trainer and Program Assistant at FGCU, A Head Coach and Programmer for a CrossFit Affiliate with 390 members, an Assistant Instructor for USA Weightlifting, and now a Coach at the best CrossFit Affiliate in all of SW Florida, CrossFit Fireball.

I am a Board Certified Licensed Athletic Trainer (physiotherapist), and a certified sports nutritionist. Up until recently I had lived on the East coast of Florida in Fort Lauderdale, where I graduated from Nova Southeastern University (2014) with a Bachelors of Science degree, majoring in Athletic Training.

Shortly after graduating, passing my boards, and becoming certified & licensed; I started an mobile sports medicine company that provided athletic training / sports medicine services, with a concentration in manual therapies & other techniques that are shown to enhance recovery.

I’ve had the distinct pleasure of serving as head athletic trainer (physiotherapist) for CONCACAF’s 2015 Gold Cup (Soccer), and a proud member of the sports medicine teams that I worked with while providing sports medicine services to the professional athletes of The Fort Lauderdale Strikers Professional Soccer Team of NASL; The National Volleyball League Tournaments [NVL] (Beach Volleyball), the Fall Experimental Football League [FXFL], MMA & BJJ fighters & their competitive teams, Tennis, NBA drafting athletes, swimmers, Crossfit athletes, competitive bodybuilders, and of course the general population in my community ranging from 11-to-88 years old.

I am currently a graduate student, soon to receive my Masters in Health Care Sciences with a focus in Athletic Training and Executive Leadership from the University of Saint Augustine, Florida.

I came to Crossfit Fireball because I saw an opportunity to make a large impact on a community that I joined recently, and to work with like-minded professionals that have the best intentions at heart.

Each morning as I crawl out of bed, I am reminded of my mission;

1) always do what I feel is right,

2) find value in every lesson, especially the uncomfortable ones, &

3) change people’s lives.

I believe in the platinum rule; “treat others how they want to be treated” and I respect differences in opinion, culture, and beliefs of the people I encounter.

I believe in a life-long journey of learning, as it is my aim to better understand myself, the people around me, and the world around us all.

I stumbled upon CrossFit in 2007 when I moved to a new office above a box. I dropped in for an introductory class and was immediately hooked. I knew right away that this was something I could stick with. Not only was I seeing results quickly, I enjoyed having a community that supported each other in meeting our goals. Nothing makes me happier in the gym, than seeing someone reach a goal, or hit a PR; especially when I’ve helped coach them through their journey of hard work, perseverance and sometimes self-doubt. Prior to CrossFit, I was an avid cyclist (well… more like a weekend warrior). I have participated in centuries, triathlons, and mountain bike races but nothing challenges, or inspires me quite the way CrossFit does.

I’m from Connecticut and I moved down to Florida to go to school at Nova Southeastern University. What attracted me down to Florida was the warmth and opportunity to compete at a collegiate level as a pole vaulter. Like most college students, the first few years were difficult in finding exactly what I wanted. However, after changing my degree I started the journey, that I’m still on, to an osteopathic medical school to become a sport’s physician. I graduated in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sport Science and some prereqs for med school still to go. Along the way I became a certified sports nutritionist by the International Society of Sports Nutrition (ISSN). I’m always up for a challenge and love to learn about new ideas and principles. I’m looking forward to continuing my journey and seeing what the west coast of Florida has to offer.
